Old porcelain tub?

Q: I have an old porcelain on steel bathtub. It is still functional but rust has developed around the drain and at some points where the surface is chipped. Would a tub liner solve this problem?

A:  A plastic bathtub liner – an acrylic shell that fits exactly into the existing tub – can be used to restore your tub. A liner can cost considerably more than refinishing a tub, but the cost is far less than removing an old tub and installing a new one. It is also a better option when there is significant wear to an old tub. The liners come in a variety of colors and can be molded to fit almost any old bathtub.
